Chapter – One

“Rakku, get up ! ,” Mother cried. “Get up, sleeping like a beast.” “ I’m alive ……Right?” Rakesh sighed. “Get out of your quilts and prepare for your school” Mother yielded.

“Yaaaaa…….. Whoever invented schools and colleges should be murdered.” Rakesh added. “Be on time…….. or I’ll murder you!!!” mother shouted. Rakesh went to school hurrying and drowsing. Though he passed as badly as he can. Got scolding from his teacher and mother.

Slowly, gradually, days passed and Rakesh developed into a bright and handsome young man still, interested in history and is a student of Archaeological Institute Of Ahmedabad. He liked to go to trips from college and was always curious to learn new things. There he met a boy, same aged , same height , almost same nose and  same college!! He seemed to be the mirror image of Rakesh. His name was Raj Maurya, born in Muzaffarnagar, Bihar and lived in Kolkata. He was a Bihari by birth but, a Bengali unofficially. He was also interested in history.

Once he talked of Birsa tribe of Southern Chhattisgarh which wasn’t and isn’t connected to any of the other countries or people, and they believe to live in jungles of Chhattisgarh with Raj. Fortunately, their parents agreed, they were afraid that their parents may deny them, but it was wrong.

Raj and Rakesh tightened their belts for the trip to the tribal state, Chhattisgarh. They caught the only train routing towards Birsapura. The train was silent, empty and horror. By the time, they were discussing the facts that Birsa people practice in their day to day life.

“Rakesh, do you know that Birsa tribal main occupation is shifting cultivation of crops. They prefer living in huts of wood, even if there is a god supply of cement to the nearby areas,” Raj stated. “What about rains, don’t they shift to trees or something?” Rakesh questioned. “Ya! They shift to caves or either build a temporary house under large trees such as banyan tree  or a neem tree, in which leaves spread to a vast area.” Raj answered. “And  what about communication facilities in that area,” Rakesh asked. “Don’t you know a story of the tribe,” “No”

Chapter- Two

“When India was changing from telephones to mobiles. Some companies come to Chhattisgarh for putting a mobile tower in Birsapura. But, the tribal denied to do so. When the reason was asked, they said that by putting a mobile tower our tribe can be exposed to the world, which can result into a developed town of Birsapura. And they don’t want it to happen,” Raj said. “But, developing a village is good for their future generations,” Rakesh interrupted. “No, they have seen the times of Britishers and Sultans too……they believe that when their village will develop into a town, developers will use their liberty and make them work for them, which is a forced labor,” Raj answered. “Ohh! So, this is the reason why they don’t support development of their town,” Rakesh said.

They reached the village after one long, boring day. The railway platform was empty, only an office of the station master, which was the all rounder of the station. He snack vendor, the station guard and of course, the master. When they reached, they went to the office for guidance. He was sleeping and they found that this office was his home too. Both the business started their journey by walking towards the main part of the town. By walking towards, they found a drainage cover beside a peepal tree when they were walking through the forests. They stopped there for some moments. “Raj, you said that these people don’t want development in their areas, so there would be no electricity wires, no mobile towers and according to me no drainage system and water facilities. Then, what is this?” Rakesh asked. “even I don’t know , lets open this cap or cover on the ground” Raj suggested. Rakesh and Raj both opened the cover forcefully and then that happened which was unbelievable…………..
